DDA Accountability
The Board of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), admittedly captured too much tax increment financing revenue. I will continue to make sure that they remain accountable to city ordinances, state statutes, and state tax commission rules.
For more information, see: Councilman Kunselman Questions Downtown Development Authority Compliance with State Statute.
Fuller Road Station
I support the concept of a train station and associated parking. However, without a train station the proposed Fuller Road Station is nothing more than a parking structure with a bus stop. Although the city has committed $10 million to the project, it has not identified any of the funding sources. I do not support using general funds or utility funds for this project.
See: 'U' and city officials divided on Fuller Road station plan.
Downtown Conference Center
I vigorously opposed the proposed public subsidy for the downtown conference center. Council voted to stop the proposal the week after my emphatic opposition.

City Income Tax
I continue to be opposed to the city income tax, the premise of which is to transfer the tax burden from commercial property to working class families.

Airport Runway Expansion
I continue and have always been opposed to the Ann Arbor Airport runway expansion as unnecessary obligation of public dollars. The larger and heavier jets that would benefit from such an expansion can easily use Willow Run Airport. For the last two years I have submitted the amendment to remove the proposed airport extension project from the Capital Improvement Plan.
